Herbal Tea Rx

Drinking herbal tea is one of the easiest ways to treat a variety of common digestive ailments including indigestion, Irritable bowel syndrome and much more. Simply learning the uses of a handful of herbs, can help you take charge of your health and improve your quality of life. Medicinal herbal teas are easy to prepare and mix yourself and are much more tolerable than many medications. Steep using a tea strainer or make your own tea bags. Once you find herbs you like that work for you, it's fun to make your own blends from fresh or dried herbs.

Teas for digestion

Everyone gets indigestion at one time or another, so it's helpful to have a handful of herbal remedies on hand to provide fast relief. Helpful herbs for upset stomachs include chamomile, rooibos, ginger and peppermint. We have combined two herbs Chamomile & Mint into a perfect after dinner herbal tea that tastes great and has a calming effect for better sleep.  A warm cup of herbal tea before bed might just be the elixir you were looking for.

  • Chamomile - Chamomile functions as both an anti-spasmodic (relaxing the intestine) and anti-inflammatory, thus providing broad-spectrum digestive relief. The overall calming effects and delightful flavor make chamomile a popular blending component for herbal teas.
  • Peppermint - Peppermint among other things is an antispasmodic and sometimes prescribed by doctors as a treatment for irritable bowel syndrome (IBS). Many of the carminative oils in peppermint are relatively insoluble in water but it is still effective and makes a great blending component.
  • Rooibos - Rooibos herbal teas calm the digestive system and has been used in South Africa by physicians to treat Indigestion in adults and is gentile enough to treat infants colic. The warm soothing comfort is noticed almost immediately.
  • Ginger - Ginger is particularly good for nausea, a benefit that has been proven in scientific studies. Ginger has anti-inflammatory and analgesic properties which make it an ideal addition in your toolkit for fighting gastrointestinal distress.   Another spice worth mentioning is Cardamom. Seed pods should be crushed before steeping for relief of muscle spasms, cramps, indigestion or flatulence.

Are all those supplements working for you? Compare the costs of a small bag of rooibos herbal tea and some health food store supplements and you will realize making your own tinctures and herbal teas is a much better option. Visit our online tea store for a variety of herbal teas.
