SCOTTISH WHOLE WHEAT SCONE RECIPE

Scone Ingredients:

  • 1/2 cup All-purpose flour

  • 1 teaspoon Baking soda

  • 2 teaspoons Cream of tartar

  • 1 pinch Salt

  • 1 1/2 cups Whole wheat flour

  • 1/4 cup Butter

  • 1/4 cup Milk

Scone Preparation:

Preheat oven to 425 degrees. In a large bowl, combine the flour, baking soda, cream of tartar and salt. Stir in the whole wheat flour. Cut in the butter until evenly distributed. Stir in enough milk to make a soft but not sticky dough. Turn the dough onto a floured surface and knead lightly until smooth. Roll the dough to a 1/2-inch thickness and cut into 2 1/2-inch rounds. Place on a baking tray and brush the tops with milk. Bake for 10 minutes, or until golden brown.
