Preheat oven to 375 degrees; grease cookie sheets. In a large bowl, combine the flour, sugar, baking powder, salt and baking soda; blend well. Using a fork or pastry blender, cut in the margarine until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Add the buttermilk and walnuts; stir just until the dry ingredients are moistened. Drop by heaping teaspoonfuls 2 inches apart onto the cookie sheets. Bake for 9 to 12 minutes, or until light golden brown. Immediately remove from the cookie sheets. Serve warm.
