Preheat oven to 450 degrees. In a large bowl, combine the flour, baking powder, salt, sugar, cinnamon and ginger. Cut the shortening into the mixture with a pastry blender or 2 knives until the mixture resembles coarse meal. Add the raisins and pumpkin; blend well. Turn out onto a lightly floured board and pat into a circle. Brush the melted butter over the top and sprinkle with sugar. Cut into wedges. Place on an ungreased cookie sheet and bake for 20 to 25 minutes. Makes 6 to 8.
