easy to prepare, there is an art to making them the right consistency and thickness.

BRAN SCONES

Ingredients:

3 cups Whole meal self-rising flour -- -sifted
1 cup Bran
2 tablespoons Brown sugar -- packed
1/2 cup Chopped dates
1 teaspoon Mixed spice
1/4 cup Butter or margarine
2 tablespoons Honey
1 cup Milk -- to 1 1/2 cups
Preparation:
Preheat oven to 425 degrees. In a large bowl, combine the flour, bran, brown sugar,
dates and spice. In a small saucepan combine the butter, honey and milk. Heat until
the butter is melted; pour into the dry ingredients. Turn onto a floured surface and
knead lightly. Roll the dough to about 1/2-inch thick. Cut out the scones using a 2
1/2-inch round cutter. Place the scones on a baking sheet and brush with milk. Bake
for 12 to 14 minutes, or until golden brown.
